White Rabbit snowshoe race

RACE DESCRIPTION
The White Rabbit Snowshoe Race 10km will begin at 9:00 am. on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the base and the 5km will start at the top of the Scenic Triple Chair Lift at Crystal Mountain Resort out of Westbank, B.C. Participants should arrive early to take the chairlift, which will open at 9:00 a.m., to the race start.

The course follows our main snowshoe trail, beginning on a plateau above Crystal Mountain by the triple chair.
The first part of the trail features flat to rolling terrain as it winds its way away from the resort and ski hill towards Last Mountain.
The trail, at one point, crosses a ravine with a gradual climb back to the top of the plateau.
After crossing some open meadows the trail meets up with the junction of the Last Mountain trail where it turns back toward the resort and away from Last Mountain.
Passing behind the top of the double chair lift on the snowshoe trail, the course begins its descent dropping approximately 190 metres. 
The trail, with alternating gentle and steeper sections, makes its way through a denser evergreen forest. Caution should be used on steeper sections as the trail is narrower in some parts. Observe all no passing signs and sections.
The trail makes a sharp right hand turn shortly after the last bigger downhill section and takes a trail that loops around a swamp. Terrain is gently rolling for the most part.
After completing most of the Loop Trail, the trail works its way to Crystal Resort following an old logging road along a creek and then part of a gentle section of an old ski run to finish by the “Fun Bowl” at the Resort. At the finish line there will be some refreshments for participants. 
• Men’s 5km and 10km
• Women’s 5km and 10km
• Youth (10 - 15 years of age) 5km
• Only snowshoes with crampons will be permitted on the course.
• Participants 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult on the race.
• Snowshoers must stay on the trail and pass all checkpoints.
• Use of drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification from the race without reimbursement of fees.
